33. North Carolina: Michael Jordan (Wilmington)
Though technically born in Brooklyn, Jordan’s family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, when he was a toddler. He famously used the motivation of being cut from his high school varsity team as a sophomore to fuel a legendary work ethic. After hitting the game-winning shot for UNC in the 1982 NCAA Championship, he joined the Chicago Bulls. With a flawless 6-0 record in the NBA Finals and five MVPs, he is the consensus greatest basketball player ever.
