An incredibly strange local ordinance explicitly dictates that metal coins are not allowed to be placed inside your ears. Economic historians believe this law traces directly back to the early periods of the state when the Hawaiian monarchy was first circulating modern, standardized currency. The rule was allegedly established by the ruling class to prevent citizens from disrespecting the faces of the monarchs stamped onto the metal coins.
