Disposing of large home appliances is highly regulated across the country, leading to this incredibly weird public safety law. It is legally unlawful to sleep on top of a refrigerator outside. Before modern magnetic door seals were invented, older refrigerators utilized heavy mechanical latches that could trap children playing hide and seek inside, leading to tragic suffocations.
